We got off to a great start to the National Athletics League (NAL) season, with a second-place finish in our home match yesterday (Sunday 11th June). Competing against Belgrave Harriers, Bristol and West, Cardiff, The City of Liverpool, The City of Portsmouth, Herts Phoenix and Herne Hill Harriers, Bedford and County came second overall, coming second in the men's match (by only 3 points), and finishing third in the Women's Match.
Amongst the highlights were:
- A and B string wins in the Men's 800m from Sam Winters (1:53.73) and Ben Davies (1:56.66) respectively - and also note that Ben had run a 3:48.17 1500m at Loughborough the previous day.
- A and B string wins in the Men's Hammer from Glenn Kerr (49.61) and Darren Kerr (39.10).
- A great PB of 14.25 seconds from Etienne Maughan (U20) in the Women's 100m Hurdles.
A big thank you to all the athletes who competed for the club, and also to the team managers, officials, organisers and all the other volunteers who made the event possible.
