Congratulations to Sam Winters who has broken the Senior men's 800m record again at Watford on Wednesday with a time of 1.50.61.

Update on Bedford athletes competing in Gothenburg at the World Masters

More Bedford athletes have been competing in Gothenburg at the World Masters this week:

Damian Larrington was 13^th in the M40 shot

Glen Kerr was 5^th in the M45 Hammer

Darren Kerr was 11^th in the M50 Hammer - Darren has a couple more events to go yet

Jemma Wins Masters Pole Vault World Championships

Many congratulations to Bedford’s new World Masters Champion Jemma Eastwood who took the W45 Pole Vault title clearing 3.10m in Gothenberg, ahead of Titta Sillman of Finland.

A number of Bedford & County's many Masters Athletes are competing at the championships - good luck to everyone competing over the next week and a half!

Club record for Mia

Congratulations to Mia Flynn who has broken her own U15 Girls club record for the Hammer with a throw of 43.51m at the SEAA U15 Champs in Walton on the 11 August.

We are looking for a person(s) who can help with organising a club awards evening to celebrate our athletes achievements. The event is planned for the end of October at the stadium. There are a few road and track races coming up in Sandy in September:

Wed 4th Sept 5k road race 7 pm from Sandy sling route 51 cycleway around a loop and back.

Wed 11th Sept 70 year anniversary 1 mile races on the track.

Club records for John

Congratulations to John Eves who has set 2 Masters Club Records. 14:58.25 for the M40 5000m record at Wimbledon on 3rd August and 31:19 for the M40 10000m record at Chelmsford on the 29th June.

Club record for Mia

Congratulations to Mia Flynn who has set a new U15 Hammer club record of 42.41m at the England U15 Championships in Birmingham on 26th July.

Twin Silvers from Bedford Girls and International callup for Jasmine Wilkins

Congratulations to Jasmine Wilkins and Etienne Maughan who each claimed a
silver medal in the England U20 and U23 Championships held at Birmingham
on the weekend of 20/21 July.
Running in the 100m on Saturday, Jasmine comfortably won her heat in 11.82
seconds (w – 1.6) and finished second in the final with 11.94 seconds battling
against a -2.8 wind. On Sunday, she finished 5 th in the final of the 200m in a
time of 23.99 seconds, which also constituted a personal best and a club record.
Jasmine has been called up as part of the relay squad for the GB team for the
World U20 Championships to be held in Peru in August.

Not to be outdone, Etienne, recovering from injury, gained Bedford’s second
silver of the weekend placing second in the U23 100m Hurdles in a time of
13.64 seconds, just a tenth outside her personal best.

Club Record for Sam

At the Tooting BMC meeting on Wednesday 24th July Sam Winters broke the long standing Bedford & county senior mens 800m club record with a time of 1.50.66, finishing 4th in a high quality field. Congratulations Sam.
